WESTBROOK, Maine – Expanding on the traditional clinical orientation experience to include behavioral health-specific education, the inaugural new graduate nurse residency program (NRP) with MaineHealth Behavioral Health at Spring Harbor (MHBHSH) has successfully graduated its first class from the program.
The NRP consists of a year-long series of monthly learning experiences that support new nurses as they transition into professional nursing practice in the treatment of individuals with a behavioral health diagnosis. The program represents a significant solution to the ongoing shortage of behavioral health professionals facing MHBHSH and psychiatric facilities across the nation.
A total of five nurses working at MHBHSH successfully completed the program:
- Mediatrice Kantarama, RN
- Toia Francis, RN
- Shane Grenier, RN
- Samantha Holichork, RN
- Delaney Collins, RN
All five graduates have elected to remain at MHBH to continue their professional growth as behavioral health professionals.
"MHBH is immensely proud to welcome our new nurse graduates into the behavioral health care community, said Jason Rosenberg, MHBH CNO. “Their journey has been marked by unwavering dedication, exceptional skill, and a profound commitment to patient care. As they embark on their professional paths, they bring with them the promise of compassionate leadership and innovative care. These graduates are not just the future of nursing; they are the embodiment of hope and excellence in behavioral health care."
