Welcome to Pulmonary Rehabilitation (Phase 2)
We are a hospital based outpatient program that provides comprehensive lung health education for prevention and wellness, progressive strength/endurance exercise training and staff/peer support for those who live with the challenges of chronic breathing problems. Our goal is to work alongside those who struggle with chronic lung disease to help them have a better quality of life by improving their physical functioning and lung health knowledge base.

Our support for improved self-management and quality of life includes providing:
- Monthly support groups meetings for education, peer and healthcare resource support.
- Follow up after rehab for continued connection with Pulmonary Rehab as a healthcare resource to identify any potential problems and aid in early interventions
- Access to local/community resources
- An avenue to decrease social isolation
Continuing Pulmonary Rehab Exercise with us:
To maintain your improved physical tolerance we help you to progress from exercise in Rehab to daily home exercise by devising a home exercise plan home that includes pacing, breath control and self-monitoring techniques for safety and continued independence at home. We also allow and encourage you to come back for independent exercise training twice a week in our Rehab exercise room where you will always have a Rehab specialist to guide you. This is called Phase 3 Pulmonary Rehab.
Monthly Education and Support Group Meetings
We meet the last Tuesday of every month, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Rehab education room on the main floor at Pen Bay Medical Center, located in the room at the end of the Cancer Care hallway. This meeting is open to those with lung health issues as well as their friends and family and anyone interested in learning more about lung health wellness. Absolutely everyone is welcome, it is free and there is no pre registration or sign up required.
Our pulmonary rehab team is a collaborative effort of health care professionals that includes respiratory therapists, rehab nurses, exercise specialists, dieticians, occupational and physical therapists, and other healthcare specialists on a consult as needed basis.
