Peter G Amann

Health is not merely the absence of disease but the ability to enjoy life fully and completely. Part of my job as a primary care doctor is to find out what is important in my patients’ lives and be a coach to encourage them to make small steps to improve their health. In medicine, we are very quick to recommend a procedure or a medicine that patients may end up needing to take chronically but we can all make small changes in our life to quit smoking, eat healthier, be more active, sleep enough, do the things we find pleasure in and recharge our batteries.

It has been my privilege as a family doctor to have followed some patients from birth who are now in high school, to take care of multi-generational families and to establish relationships which have lasted almost 20 years at this point. When a disease process occurs in patients, it is important to be available to coordinate care, answer questions, help translate the medical language, and be supportive for not only patient’s physical, but emotional health and needs.  I strive to be able to listen and provide excellent medical care despite the technology, distractions, time constraints and outside influences that make it difficult to practice medicine in our society.
