Walter F DeNino
I completed a six-year integrated pathway residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, South Carolina where I served as chief resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery. After that, I completed advanced fellowship training in Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. I am currently the Director of MaineHealth's left ventricular assist device (LVAD) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) programs.

My interests include all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valvular repair and replacement, heart failure, specifically LVAD and ECMO, as well as aortic procedures. I enjoy getting to know each of my patients and their families and helping them understand what our excellent team at Maine Medical Center does for their heart.
