My work as an Infectious Diseases specialist affords me the opportunity to be "Sherlock Holmes" through the process of determining the ultimate cause of a patient's illness and in doing so, develop the appropriate treatment for the patient's infection. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is developing a partnership with patients where we are both actively engaged in the course of treatment to achieve the best outcome from their medical care. Ensuring that patients understand the issues surrounding their infections is critical in this partnership. In addition to my work as a general Infectious Diseases physician, I am also the Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at MMC.
