Daniel P Cassell, PAC

Daniel P Cassell

Originally a native of New Hampshire, I joined MaineHealth after spending three years at an academic practice in central California. There, I worked primarily in adult reconstruction of the knee, hip, and shoulder, orthopedic trauma, as well as with operative and non-operative conditions of the upper extremity. I was drawn to orthopedics early in my career, after graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Sports Medicine & Athletic Training. After four years of experience working with collegiate sports at a small university in upstate New York, I returned to graduate school and obtained my master’s degree then pursued post-graduate training at a year-long PA residency program. There, I was able to learn alongside resident physicians with a heavy orthopedic trauma focus at the region’s 641-bed level I trauma center, the fifth largest and third busiest in California.

I’m excited to return to the east coast and honored to join the specialists of MaineHealth specifically. What I enjoy most about orthopedics is helping people get back to what they enjoy doing pain free, whether that’s a return to sport or simply a return to simple activities of daily living. What impressed me the most about MaineHealth, is the multidisciplinary “team” approach and the patient-centered focus on education and positive outcomes.

In my free time, you might find me running around the peninsula, happily lost in the woods out hiking or backpacking on any long weekend I can get, exploring live music, or chasing and getting chased by my nieces and nephew back in New Hampshire.
