The Maine Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital have partnered to provide the only complete children’s cardiac program north of Boston. The pediatric cardiology program has the only fellowship-trained pediatric cardiologist in the state of Maine.
What is pediatric cardiology?
Pediatric cardiology offers advanced and complete diagnostic and treatment services to children with heart problems. Pediatric cardiology includes treatment for congenital (present at birth) heart disease as well as with heart conditions that develop during childhood. Evaluation can begin with the fetus, since some heart problems can be detected before birth.
