Day Surgery | Outpatient Surgery

We know that surgery can be stressful for patients and their loved ones. Our goal is to keep you comfortable, safe and well-informed.

What is outpatient surgery?

Outpatient surgery is a great option for generally healthy patients who need a minor surgery or procedures. Outpatient surgery, also called day surgery, is a surgery that does not require the patient to stay in the hospital overnight. Patients stay in the hospital for several hours to recover and can leave by the end of the day.

Pre-registration for outpatient surgery

You can pre-register for your surgery once you have the date of your appointment.

Pre-registering will save time on the day of your surgery. You can pre-register online or by phone.

Pre-anesthesia screening

Patients are asked to meet with the anesthesia and pre-operative nurses before their surgery. This should take place one week before the surgery.

The nurses will ask about medications, allergies and other health problems. Patients should tell the nurses if they are currently on a blood thinner or if they are feeling ill.

Financial assistance

We have financial counselors who can help patients set up a payment plan if they have no insurance, are underinsured or on Medicaid.

The hospital bill will not include doctor’s fees. The patient will get separate bills from the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other specialists on the care team.

Drain Care Post-Surgery

A surgical drain helps to get rid of fluid that may collect around the site after your operation. Here's how to care for the drain and prevent infections.
