Telehealth

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of technology to support long-distance health care. Patients and providers use equipment such as computers and cameras to meet remotely instead of in-person at a clinic or medical practice. Telehealth helps patients manage their health and stay connected to their providers, even when they can't leave their homes.

What are benefits of telehealth for patients?

Telehealth allows patients to:

  • Monitor and record their vital signs and activity levels
  • Get reminders about their medication
  • Connect with nurses and healthcare providers using a tablet, laptop or desktop computer
  • Learn about their medical condition(s) through educational videos and quizzes
  • Learn to identify the signs and symptoms of illness
  • Send messages to their provider and read responses
