The Diabetes Self-Management Education program will guide you in managing diabetes and help you live a healthier lifestyle. Anyone living with diabetes, whether newly diagnosed or who have been living with the disease for many years. We encourage family participation. Options include both one-day and multiple-class sessions. A physician referral is required. The cost for this class is usually covered by Medicare, MaineCare and private insurance.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) at Stephens Memorial Hospital is a Center for Disease Control program which has been proven as a successful strategy to prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes. This yearlong program is offered throughout the year. Sessions are interactive and led by trained lifestyle coaches.
Speak with your healthcare provider about your risk for Type 2 diabetes. There is a one-time $20.00 fee for the program. If you have questions or would like to enroll, please contact Betty Sirois MSN, RN, CDE at 207-744-6057.
