Reach Out and Get Help

It is important to get treatment for the underlying causes of suicidal thoughts. This often includes mental health issues like depression, anxiety and substance use as well as stressful life events. Most of the time, there are signs that someone is thinking about suicide. Know the signs of suicide, and get help, support and care. 

If you have a loved one who has been talking about suicide or sharing suicidal thoughts, please help the person seek out a mental health professional.

  • Sudden or continuing withdrawal
  • Moodiness
  • Feeling hopeless
  • Change in sleep patterns
  • Acting in self-destructive ways, such as taking drugs or driving recklessly
  • Giving away items and personal belongings
