Apprenticeship Opportunity

We are pleased to offer an Education Technician Apprenticeship Program. This is an 18-month, earn-while-you-learn program is offered in conjunction with Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) through the Maine Department of Labor and the Maine Apprenticeship Program.

This program is designed for those who want to become a MaineHealth Education Technician II. After completing the Intro to Teaching Bootcamp during the first week in the program, you will spend time working full-time in a classroom setting while progressing through coursework one afternoon per week each semester. Additional week-long course engagements are required just before the start of each semester. Cohorts typically start in January and August each year. To qualify for this program, you must meet the following prerequisites:

  • 18 years or older
  • Resident of State of Maine
  • Proof of Authorization to work in U.S.
  • High School diploma, GED, or HiSET
  • Desire to work in education field
  • Testing may be required
  • Receive admission to SMCC’s Educator Apprentice program
