What is audiology?

Audiologists are hearing specialists who are trained to identify, diagnose, measure, and treat hearing disorders or balance problems. They use a variety of devices to measure hearing and the type and extent of hearing loss.

Symptoms of a hearing or balance problem may include:

  • Dizziness
  • Vertigo (feels like everything around you is spinning or moving)
  • Nausea
  • Having a hard time hearing

Who is at risk for hearing and balance problems?

Although everyone is at risk for developing a hearing or balance issue, there are some factors that can increase the risk. These risk factors include:

  • Long term exposure to loud noises
