When Memorial Hospital opened its doors over 100 years ago, it aimed to offer a level of care to match the quality of life enjoyed by Mount Washington Valley residents. Today, we are proud of our continued ability to offer comprehensive and essential care close to home.

Over the years, donor support has allowed us to increase access to specialists, advance technology, and expand existing services. Here are just a few examples of how your support has grown our capacity to care for our community:

Providing critical care when patients need it most

Access to telemedicine in treating stroke patients

Through telemedicine, our emergency department can consult with a stroke neurologist during the first hour a potential stroke patient is wheeled through the doors. This service allows for specialized evaluation at any time, day or night. Our partnership with MaineHealth neurologists supports our care team in making critical, life-saving decisions and expediting interventions. By connecting with specialists in real-time, we are enhancing emergency care in our rural area, and improving patient outcomes in the hospital you know and trust.

“Specialists can follow a patient’s status from anywhere, while the patient can stay where they are comfortable, locally.”
— Paul, EMS Coordinator

Bringing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to our Family Birth Center

Access to telemedicine in treating newborns

As birth centers across the country close, our family birth center remains dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for our infants. With a neonatologist at the ready, we can quickly assess any newborn in need and collaboratively develop a tailored treatment plan. This immediate access to specialized care ensures that each infant receives the attention necessary for the best possible outcome, reassuring our OB team and families.

“If you’re at memorial, you are going to get the same safety net of care that you would get anywhere at MaineHealth.”
— Leigh, RN

Expanding technology to support patient care

Access to advanced technology

MaineHealth Memorial Hospital is enhancing our imaging services with a state-of-the-art CT scanner. This new technology supports our cardiology and orthopedics programs, allowing for more accurate diagnoses while keeping radiation exposure low. For patients, this improved imaging service often means they don’t have to travel out of town to get special imaging. It ensures comfort and efficiency for continuity of care in their community.

“Our improved imaging is to the point where a radiologist can make accurate diagnoses much better and quicker than they ever could before.”
— Jesse, Radiologic Technologist
