MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital, located in Rockport, Maine, is a 106-bed, full-service community hospital. It is known for the quality of its care through honors such as Joint Commission Accreditation. It is also a recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Target: Stroke Honor Roll Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.

MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital has a care team of more than 1,100. This includes over 102 physicians and advanced practice providers who are among the more than 2,000 providers who are part of the MaineHealth Medical Group. MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital offers care in more than 30 specialty areas, including emergency care, primary care, obstetrics & gynecology and many others. The hospital is a designated stroke center, providing stroke patients with the best possible opportunity for recovery. MaineHealth Pen Bay Community Health & Wellness programs provide a wide range of educational events, resources, support groups, workshops, screenings and classes to help community members continually improve their health and wellness. 

MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital’s rich history dates back to 1901 when nine physicians, with the help of public subscription, purchased the ‘Fessenden-Stakpole Homestead on the corner of Maple and White streets in Rockland. For $3,000 they bought the house and equipped it as an 11-bed hospital. The current hospital, located at 6 Glen Cove Drive in Rockport, opened its doors in 1975 as a modern, 106-bed acute care facility, merging the former Camden Hospital and the former Knox County General Hospital into a single health care facility. In 2019, the Charlotte and Christopher Beebe Health Center was opened on the campus.
