Four care team members from MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals were recently honored with employee awards during ceremonies held on the hospital campuses.
As part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals will be open for CT lung cancer screens as part of National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, Nov. 9.
In the fight against the disease, MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital (MHPBH) recently installed a new, state-of-the-art mammography machine in its Radiology department in September and, with it, became the first hospital in Maine to begin using new Genius AI Detection (GAID) 2.0 software in scans.
Steinbarger earned his bachelor’s degree in medicine from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1999. Before that, he spent six years in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1994.

Later this month, Pen Bay Medical Center will open the doors of its new Rockland Health Center, located within the Rockland Plaza at 75 Maverick St., when it opens its relocated Walk-in Care practice Saturday, October 19.
The community forum held in early August was created as a listening session to give the community a voice in our conversation about the future of the hospital’s labor and delivery unit.
Due to the high level of community interest in Waldo County General Hospital’s upcoming community forum regarding labor and delivery services, the hospital has moved the event to a larger venue. The forum will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. inside the Belfast Area High School Gym, located at 25 Lions Way in Belfast.
