Waldo County General Hospital scored in the top 100 of Critical Access Hospitals on iVantage’s Hospital Strength INDEX®. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of rural and Critical Access Hospitals. Waldo County General Hospital was named to the 2016 edition of its "50 Critical Access Hospitals to Know" list. Becker's selected critical access hospitals for inclusion based on rankings and awards from respected organizations, including iVantage Health Analytics, Healthgrades, the National Rural Health Association, Truven Health Analytics, Women's Choice Award and the Leapfrog Group. 2009 Leapfrog Top Rural Hospital
Waldo County General Hospital was one of three rural hospitals given the prestigious Leapfrog Top Rural Hospital Award in 2009.
Given annually by the Leapfrog Group, the award honors hospital performance under national standards of safety, quality and efficiency. The group represents many of the country’s largest corporations and public agencies that buy health benefits. The hospital’s performance was measured through standards for complex, high-risk procedures, staffing standards, implementation of procedures to prevent medication errors, mortality rates for certain common procedures, infection rates and value. Leapfrog ranked the hospitals on 20 separate categories for care and procedure.
