Mental Health Counseling

MaineHealth counselors provide expert mental health evaluation and treatment services to adults and children. Some work in the same office as your primary care provider so care is convenient for you and your family.

What is mental health counseling?

Mental health counselors are licensed clinicians with special training in conditions such as:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Acute and chronic mental illness
  • Relationship, couples and family problems
  • Family crises, including separation, divorce or death
  • Sexual or physical abuse
  • Addiction/substance abuse
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder and recovery from catastrophic events
  • Loss and declining health that come with aging

Refugee & Immigrant Mental Health Services (RICCM)

The MaineHealth RICCM program works with children, youth, adults and families who have emigrated to the United States and may have experienced emotional and behavioral challenges due to trauma and adjustment to a new culture. 

The RICCM program offers traditional counseling and case management services, as well as specialized support groups for new Americans. Interpreters work with clients who speak languages not represented by our staff. For more information, please call 844-292-0111.
