Wound and ostomy care starts with a comprehensive evaluation to assess your condition. This is usually followed by:
- Personalized treatment plan developed with you, your primary care physician and other specialty care providers
- Cleansing and medication for wounds
- Ostomy and fistula management
- Treatment of incontinence, including skin problems

People who may be eligible for wound and ostomy care at home may have:
- Mobility problems, or trouble getting around or leaving the house
- Wound and ostomy problems that need advanced care
- Leaking ostomies and fistulas
Will my insurance cover wound and ostomy care at home?
Talk to your primary care provider about requesting wound and ostomy care at home. You will need a referral from your provider. Medicare and many private insurers cover wound and ostomy care at home.
